The Brief
To create an animated music video for the song Pacman by artist eaJ, consisting of illustrative and narrative elements to evoke emotion that enhances the impact of the song.
Challenges
The main challenges of this brief would have been the process of finding how to produce a strong visual piece that maintained strong narrative elements whilst also being impactful and complementary to the song.
My Unique Solution
For this approach, I used several programs including, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects while also incorporating open source software such as DAIN (an Artificial Intelligence-based software that increases the framerate of animation) that would improve the overall quality and speed up the workflow.
To improve organization I worked in segments and rendered out and tweaked several scenes of the animation throughout the several weeks individually.
Illustrator was used to creating some of the background elements and the bases of aspects seen throughout the music video. While photoshop was used to add the details such as shading before animating in After Effects.
To further enhance the piece I also added an almost hand-drawn effect that added more life in the form of minimalistic changes in linework that prevented any still boring frames.
Adobe Premiere was then used at the very end to compile all the different segments into the final animation seen below.
