The Brief
To create an animated music video for the song Slump by Korean artist group Stray kids, consisting of illustrative elements and using Colour and lighting to enhance the visual style of the animation and impact of the narrative while maintaining a consistent and cohesive design language between scenes.
Challenges
The main challenges of this brief were the number of separate illustrations that had to be made since they all had to follow a similar design language and illustrative style. The sheer amount of separate layers proved to take quite a toll on me overall. However, once the initial design language was found it made things much easier.
My Unique Solution
For this approach, I used several programs including Adobe Premiere, Photoshop and After Effects while also incorporating open source software such as DAIN (an Artificial Intelligence-based software that increases the framerate of animation) that would improve the overall quality and speed up the workflow. Using Photoshop rather than illustrator for this project really helped when it came to the visual elements as the shading style that was utilised would have been much more difficult in illustrator.
This project had the most organization out of any of my projects to date every file was in their respective folders labelled from Scene 1-26, and each had its own after effects folder to ensure that nothing was too messy when I needed to make the necessary alterations.
